Fourth in descent from John Lake, Lord of the manor of Laken, or Lacon, in the 21st year of Edward III, who was fifth in descent from Sir Robert de Lakyn, also lord of the same manor was Sir Richard Lakyn, knight, sherriff of Salop in 1415, who witnessed the Earl of Arundel's charter to Owestry, 8th Henry IV"
