    In the 1871 census he is the rector at Holbrook, Suffolk and is living with Elizabeth and three step-children and numerous scholars, presumeably he is teaching at a school.

  1. 4.  William Childe was born Abt 1756; was christened 23 Nov 1755, All Saints, Forton, Stafford, England (son of Catherine Childe); died 3 Feb 1824, Kinlet Hall.

    Notes:

    William the elder son of Charles Baldwyn and Catherine Childe assumed his mother's name on her death. He was a great Agriculturist and a well-known rider to hounds by which he gained the soubriquet of " the flying Childe." He married Annabella, the daughter of Sir Charlton Leighton of Loton, and died 1828 in London from an accidental fall and is buried at Kinlet. He was succeeded by his only son William Lacon Childe, M.P., who was born Jan. 3rd, 1784, and died Dec. 12th, 1880.

    Charles Baldwyn was born 1729 and married in 1752 the heiress of Kinlet. He was reeklessly extravagant and with the unwilling consent of his son he sold all his own estates for which he had to obtain a special Act of Parliament, dissipated the purchase money and died and is buried at Eastbourne. Mrs. Baldwyn died of small-pox in 1770 and the Kinlet estates devolved by her father's will on her eldest son William Baldwyn, then a boy at Harrow, with a request that he should assume the name of Childe. Another son Charles Baldwyn died unmarried 1811, and a daughter Catherine Baldwyn also unmarried was buried at Kinlet 1838. William the elder son of Charles Baldwyn and Catherine Childe assumed his mother's name on her death.

    William married Mary Ann Hughes 20 Apr 1818, St Sepulchre, Holborn. Mary (daughter of John Hughes and Margaret Pugh) was born 13 Jun 1779, Broseley, Shropshire, England; was christened 13 Jun 1779, St Leonards, Broseley; died May 1850; was buried 19 May 1850, St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.     "Letter written from Kinlet, dated 25 March stating that his attitude to Mrs Childe and her sons is unalterable, and requests Baker says this when he returns the enclosed letter."
